ojAlgo Support
You built your system on our software. We wrote it. Nobody knows it better.
One relationship, not three
Support covers everything Optimatika builds, as one relationship:
ojAlgo
The library itself. Formulation, which solver to reach for, why a model behaves the way it does, which parts of the library to use and which to leave alone.
Optimisation Service
Deploying it, configuring it, sizing it, and working out whether a model belongs on it at all.
Solver integrations
ojAlgo-extensions, builds against current solver versions, and which third-party solver actually suits your problem.
What you get
A direct line, by email, to the people who develop and maintain all of it. When you hit a problem, the answer comes from whoever wrote the code — not from a support agent reading the same documentation you already read.
Answers, not escalations
Priority answers to your questions, in private. Help with formulation, solver selection, and getting the most out of what the software already does.
Review and guidance
Review of your ojAlgo integration or your Service deployment. Guidance on upgrades and on modelling decisions before you commit to them.
Priority bug triage
When something is wrong, your report goes to the top. Questions about whether an approach is sound before you build on it — that is what the support relationship exists to cover.
Advance notice
Subscribers hear first when a new version is coming and what changes. Pre-release builds and migration guides are available in the ojAlgo-extensions repository before a public release ships.
Embedding ojAlgo in a product
You already have the right to. ojAlgo is MIT licensed, which permits use, modification and distribution inside a commercial, closed-source product — no fee, no separate agreement, no royalties. You only have to keep the copyright notice.
We will not sell you a licence you already have.
What is worth paying for is the other thing. Getting a large model to solve quickly — or at all — is rarely about picking the right library. It is about formulation, scaling, presolve, tolerances, and knowing which parts of the software to use and which to leave alone. That knowledge exists in one place.
How it is sold
Support is not sold on its own. It is included at every paid step of the Optimatika Subscription, which also licenses the Optimisation Service and carries access to the solver integrations and the right to request new builds of them.
The smallest step, Base, is EUR 175 per month. How many cases each step includes, and everything else that comes with it, is published on the subscription page.
There is no separate support product to compare, and no decision to make about whether support is worth buying alongside the licence. If you are paying anything at all, you can ask.
Work beyond answering questions — model review, profiling, implementation — is quoted separately. See Custom Work.
What is free, and what a subscription adds
Free, in public
- GitHub Discussions and Issues, answered on a best-effort basis
- Years of answered questions, on GitHub and elsewhere online
- The source, the changelog and the Javadoc
With a subscription
- A private channel, by email, to the people who wrote the library
- An answer within two business days
- Questions about your model, which cannot be posted publicly
- Priority bug triage, advance notice of releases, pre-release builds
Best effort is what an open source project can promise. Two business days is what a subscription can.
